Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman acquires new yard in Hornell Former Hornell Waste Material Co. to become part of the largest privately held scrap metal processor on the East Coast September 16th, 2013 – Continuing an aggressive schedule of expansion throughout the Northeast, Upstate Shredding- Ben Weitsman has acquired Hornell Waste Material Co. of Hornell, N.Y. “We do not yet have a location in Steuben County so this acquisition is filling a great need to serve Hornell and the surrounding areas,” said Adam Weitsman, owner of Upstate Shredding and Ben Weitsman. “With our new export facility at the Port of Albany in full operation and 2nd shredder approved for New Castle, we are eager to find new markets for scrap metal.” Weitsman facilities are located throughout New York and Pennsylvania. New York locations can be visited in Owego (2 locations), Buffalo, Syracuse, Binghamton, Liberty, Jamestown, Albany, Rochester, Ithaca (2 locations) and Allegany. Pennsylvania yards are located in Scranton and New Castle. While financial amount of the private sale has not been disclosed, the deal is an all cash transaction and is set to close within 30 days.
